We aren’t even scheduled yet in my area. Tough to now be at 1 month of no biking because our roads are impassable. Can’t come soon enough…
This photo should be entered as evidence to oppose any application or appeal they submit for a parking lot. The people rest their case.
We need increasing fines for repeat offenders… start charging a couple grand to these big corporate land owners/individuals.
I've been away for the last few weeks and in the meantime it looks like they've cleared all the sidewalks around me to a double-wide standard, including the area above, so kudos for that. This certainly doesn't do well to push back against the perception that the city doesn't care about anybody not in a motor vehicle.
Here's a sidewalk under a 3-day priority schedule in my neighbourhood, plowed after it became impassable. Even worse now.View attachment 706180
Yep, and then there are the few weeks where they become skating rinks during the March/April thaw, especially the parts that refreeze overnight and in the shade. Meanwhile the residents/businesses/construction areas who have maintained a clear walk all winter will be fine.We need to start clearing MUPs way faster to take advantage of warm spells. The 3-5 days leaves most of them packed down with multiple inches of thick, bumpy snow that quickly becomes ice as it warms. Then we spend the rest of the winter pushing/brushing snow off the ice and it’s never better till spring.
If we prioritize clearing faster, it’ll make the rest of the season more effective in clearing. The difference between sidewalks and MUPs this next week will be stark. Sidewalks that have been cleared with be pristine after a few warm days. MUPs will be icy hellholes.
