Still a gong show out in Spruce Grove. Meanwhile, we in Edmonton can't wait for spring opening with the Riverhawks at the REMAX Centre.
Some good news on concessions (maybe?) and the audio:
I deliberately omitted parking because of its irrelevance to this forum (unless we're discussing decreases and elimination)There's also this:
Parking - We love our little spot down in the River Valley, and it has tons of advantages, but with good comes with the bad, and parking is always a struggle. We've been feverishly renting out as many public and private lots in close proximity to the stadium to help with this - a lot of the auxillary ones being reserved for staff/players/entertainment (to free up the closer ones for fans!). We're also excited to introduce a new initiative with the City of Edmonton regarding transportation to the ballpark - stay tuned![]()
True but also to of regional minor ball associations come to games so not feasible for them.I don’t get why they don’t push biking more. Great outdoors and folk fest both do it. So many easy spots to access thanks to walterdale, river valley trails, and the funicular.
I rarely saw more than 30-40 bikes at the lock up.
With all due respect, this is such poor logic.True but also to of regional minor ball associations come to games so not feasible for them.
I’m not arguing against encouraging bikes, I don’t think it’s as wonderful and accessible as you say but that’s ok. Yeah, maybe thye should run a fun campaign, like something free if you show up with your bike. With all due respect, this is such poor logic.
Same idea as arguing against bike lanes because sometimes you need to move a couch in January.
Cool, what about all the other people and situations?
The vast majority of attendees to Riverhawks games aren’t regional ball teams. It’s Edmonton residents. Most of them ages 65 and under. Most games are beautiful weather and easy to bike in.
Of course many will need to drive due to distance, family situation, etc. but hundreds more could easily bike. Again, how does great outdoors festival and folk fest do it? Or heritage days? Or Canada Day events?
We just need the Riverhawks to better promote the bike parking, provide maps and info on main routes to access by bike, and maybe even develop some “park and ride” locations like near the tops of mackinnon ravine, mill creek, and in riverdale.
Riverhawks have this as well, though apparently its not well advertised. I used it for the one game I went to last year! The Vancouver Canadians created a bike valet space which removes the fear of having your bike stolen. It's quite well used
What would you see as making it less accessible than folk fest or great outdoors festival? Both of those saw well over 1000+ bikes used. Riverhawks lock up area is usually only a few dozen.I’m not arguing against encouraging bikes, I don’t think it’s as wonderful and accessible as you say but that’s ok. Yeah, maybe thye should run a fun campaign, like something free if you show up with your bike.
I just want to also make sure we don’t make it any less car friendly, it’s a jewel we have going down there. It’s found money, and lots of people need to access via car, that’s just reality.
