I am also very suprised that there's no significant building attached to Gehry upon finding out that he is not only Canadian, but from Toronto a few years back.

I don't know if he deserves a top 10 listing, but George W. Gouinlock deserves at least a special mention, as he is responsible for many unique Toronto landmarks, including our first skyscraper. He also served as Chair of The Toronto Society of Architects.

I'd have to give it more thought as to how I would rank the top ten. But I know one Toronto architect's name that hasn't even been mentioned here yet (well, it sort of was) would be close to the #1 spot in terms of impact on architecture in this city.

* William Thomas ( 1799-1860 )

* Frederic W. Cumberland ( 1821-1881 ) or William G. Storm ( 1826-1892 )

* E.J. Lennox ( 1854-1933 )

* Eden Smith ( 1858-1849 )

* John B. Parkin ( 1911-75 )

* Peter Dickinson ( 1925-1961 )

* Eberhard Zeidler ( 1926- )

* Raymond Moriyama ( 1929- )

* Jack Diamond ( 1932- )

* Peter Clewes ( 1953- )

Would be interesting to see one good example of each of these peopele's work beside their name.
