From that ground-level treatment, I'm almost expecting Bridgepoint to be handing KPMB a few Riverdale half-round features in exchange for their design services (eccch, the thought)
My bad. Hopefully the mods can delete my other post. *walks in shame*
As mentioned...
Project is called - Ice Condo's at York Centre.
2 High-rise condo's at 65 and 55 stories. 1 31 storey 800,000 sq ft office building. Design by Peter Clewes. LEED certified. Designed in a Scandanavian Designed theme with perhaps the largest green roof ever developed in Toronto.
Somehow a Toronto project called "Ice" across from centre ice doesn't seem quite as dumb a name as... say .... San Francisco by the Bay, Beyond the Sea, Californication etc.
My first impression is that this project's design ranks right up there with the L Tower and the Absolute World project, one step above Aura or 1BE.
Is this the first step in a general movement away from the omnipresent podium? I have never felt that every condo highrise needed one, and the "swiss-cheese" structure, while certainly unique and interesting, is not a podium in my opinion.
