The angle of the wonderful shot in the fog makes the balconies almost look like they are interlocking, like a giant zipper about to be pulled. Great shot!
 
shorter tower looks fat and thick.

it's from certain angles, such as from the Rogers Centre/CN tower/Ripleys plaza. it's due to the nature of the curve being not quite a perfect oval, it's more slanted to one side. And yes, it does look the most awkward from that angle but the roof feature has mitigated that effect dramatically.

I have to give the developer credit for allowing that unusual roof element to go through. It's entirely decorative, and looks like it weighs a ton and was quite a construction challenge.

I was originally skeptical about the roof element. I thought it looked cheesy (get it?) and uncharacteristically kitschy for aA. However, it's turned out to be quite good, and fits the building as a whole.
