Phenomenal pic!

Might be the best Fall Colours pic of the year!

Thank you @Northern Light ...coming from a horticulturist/foliage expert, this mean a lot. 🙂 Any idea why the colours are extraordinarily vivid/rich this autumn? We had a pretty hot dry summer..thought we may have been in for the usual 50 shades of brown, but wow what a surprise!

According the the US Forest Service, “a succession of warm, sunny days and cool, crisp but not freezing nights seems to bring out the most spectacular color displays.”

Moisture also plays a role. “A late spring, or a severe summer drought, can delay the onset of fall color. A warm wet spring, favorable summer weather, and warm sunny fall days with cool nights should produce the most brilliant autumn colors.”

So, what we had was the ideal temperatures.

The mid-summers drought ended early enough to probably only cause a slight delay (maybe a week) in terms of peak-colour.

* of note, the same temperature phenomena is key to ripening tomatoes.

Warm days, but cool (not freezing) nights.

I used to see that view all the time going to high school in the area, a bit over a decade ago. It's incredible how the new buildings around the Yonge & Eg intersection changes that vantage point.

I really like how this has turned out in general, but it's a shame the podium frontage on Yonge screams "parking garage". Somehow those balcony guards work great on the tower, less so well on the podium.
