Facelift = good
Beige = Bad

They are listening. Took this pic this morning. Looks like that was a primer and they are now painting it grey.

Thank goodness for the racing stripes.

Lot of things could be said about the podium. The one thing that stands out the most are the taupe coloured brick. It doesn't work unless they paint the 1979 towers in grey and taupe?

hmm… tipsy!

The two 'racing stripes' and the cap are the two things that save this building from total anonymity, if only ever so slightly.

Somehow, the tower is actually decent. It's well proportioned, has an elegant top, and the smokey grey cladding makes it eye catching in its local context. The podium, however, is a step backwards in architecture. It has all the charm of a contemporary suburban strip mall. Nonetheless, it should do a better job of animating the street than the original rental towers in the area.

I like it, but in a "thank Jebus this isn't the total mess it could have easily turned into" kinda way. There's a cohesion in the lighter elements that plays off nicely against the dark glass. Definitely a notch above the Tridel/Camrost/Concord spandrel monstrosities.
