...the new extension lacks a squiggly stair case though. >.<

The Feds are pumping 25M into this project to help it meet environmental goals.

I am just posting this pic of some work going on at back of AGO. Don’t know anything. Taken 21 May.

I have a little question. For the Seldorf expansion the image below shows a vertical element on the park facing side. Is this on the facade or is it an architectural element like the ‘spear’ attached to the new courthouse? Thanks!

^Now you don’t mean that. This a Seldorf!!! I dare you to google her work (especially in San Diego) and tell me you aren’t impressed!

Btw I walked west along Dundas after taking the shot and thought that the entire north side opposite the AGO would make a great location for further expansion!

You thought that demolishing one of the most intact rows of Victorian homes (now used as retail/office) on a main street was a good idea?

I think demolishing is too much, but I would say that perhaps there is room for facadism and a new multi-level gallery behind the Victorians running the length of Dundas. Perhaps even some of the small retail spaces can be retained in a new design, just to avoid turning Dundas into an institutional tunnel.

I would say that the biggest hurdle is bridging/tunnelling Dundas + property costs.

For this project though it boggles the mind how AGO and OCADU weren't able to come to an agreement over rebuilding the north wing of OCAD's building combined with a gallery expansion Surely it would have been better than squeezing a gallery tower in that loading bay?
