Personally I would never buy any living space without a private out door patio/balcony/terrace whatever one wishes to call it.
Some may consider it a luxury some may consider it a nuisance. I consider an outdoor space absolutely necessary along with a parking space for my car. ;-)
I agree, especially if there's conflicts between neighbours regarding pets, smoking, loud activities.children which can make patios less appealing for any number of activities.
It's a shame that road is still happening on this development...it's mind-boggling-ly stupid to have that roadway there. Maybe someone needs to plant some geurilla bollards.

I've always had balconies. And while it's true that an 1100sf apartment with a 100sf balcony is better than an 1100sf apartment without one, it is also undeniably true that if you can have 1200sf of space, it would be way better used in Toronto if it was all indoor.

I wish balcony glazing enclosures are more popular here. https://lumon.com/ca/inspiration/gallery/balcony-gallery/

I vaguely recall 88 Queen St. offered it as an upgrade option during pre-sale, but then nixed the whole option later.

Yeah, that stuff looks like it could really increase the value of a balcony space. I saw the UT article about it a few months ago, but have never seen it IRL.

But to the extent your outdoor space is being subtracted from your overall space, I think most people would almost always be served better with more indoor space.

They said it couldn't be done. They said you could build a whole wall of glass at the foot of a building. But the brains behind this project blew the lid off of innovation!

Imagine of every building had a big, blank wall of glass. We can only dream of such a thing.

There's a few in Hamilton. I can take a picture and post it next time I walk by the building.

This has to be one of the most stunning art installations in Toronto. There is beauty at every turn. 😄
