Wonderful picture.

A question. Does having a prestige development like Aura going in a hundred feet from a Doner Kebab House, The Big Slice and a porn video shop, etc. smack of Third World?

Or is this the cutting edge of mixed use development, preserving established communities?

Or is it Toronto - live with it!

This part of Toronto is in the plans to be redeveloped except nothing firm has been set yet. AURA's advertising said it will connect College Park to the path within a few years. Plus that land is toooo valuable to stay that way. City rather have 1200 units paying property tax then some no name dinner.

They damn well better keep Big Slice. Bar nights just wouldn't be the same if you couldn't finish them off there!

Let's not forget that there are some nice looking buildings around there plus if you want a sanitized world stay in College Park, or walk to the Eaton Centre. Yonge St. downtown has character along with plenty of alternative retail and food joints that you'd not find in the EC or CP which is why you see thousands walking along here every hour of the day.

"character" and "alternative retail and food joints" serious? Pizza places, sushi, and kebab houses all up and down yonge and bay. The stores suck, selling fake name brand merchandise along, crappy electronics and souvenir tshirts. As for the character have you been to Ann Scott Park or even near yonge and gerrard with all the street kids, drunks, and individuals of hi esteem? I cant wait til all this trash is shipped out and cleaned up. Then yonge will have character. They are also thinking of cuttting yonge street off from car traffic like they did times square area in nyc.

Saint your photos are terrific, can you post larger versions of them? If you have the time, click the edit button and try pasting in code that will offer full size images.
As for your comments, well I'd suggest that your living in the wrong area! I know and love Barbara Anne Scott Park, I've lived in the area for 27 years and I'm just about as excited about it's eventual makeover than Aura being built. You should consider something up around Bayview & Sheppard where you don't have to deal with any culture, alternative retail or "trash" (those are people by the way) on the street. By the way, one of the best places to get mid-upper range audio/video electronics at the best prices is just north of Carlton on Yonge, but you probably wouldn't know that because you likely get scammed at one of the big box stores in the Yonge & Dundas area.
