I like how the light coloured upper storeys and dark coloured base make the building seem less bulky than it would be if it was monochromatic. I do think that grey or whatever you call it brick is being over-used in general right now in the city but I can't fault any specific project for the overall fad.
 
I like the black brick a lot… but I wouldn't want to see it everywhere. We have so much brick though, more often red than anything else of course, that I think we can afford some more black. In any case, give it a few years, and there will be a new favourite brick colour in the development community. I vote for the ironspot red/purple/brown brick which was put on Paintbox last year, and which will be going on Daniels' HighPark Condos next year. Gorgeous stuff.

Wow that looks really great. We need more developments like this in Toronto.
 
To a certain extent, it's a shame that the Midas wasn't part of the property - it's a small site that wouldn't be very useful except as a restaurant space. The blank wall facing south is the only thing I don't like that much, though it's understandable. (I wonder what it would look like had the development extended to Lennox.) I'm otherwise very pleased by the way this one turned out - perfect density for the Annex/Harbord Village/Palmerston neighbourhood (I'd like to see similar attention for the redevelopment of the opposite side of the street), good materials, interesting design.
