It would be interesting to see this photo as a "before", once BA North is complete

Yeah, I'm digging it a lot more than what's on BA West.

Sure the frosting is nice but the thing is such a compositional snooze that it just seems like a missed opportunity emblematic of little more than high modernism's ability to provide corporate North America with the moneymaking repeated floors it desires.

And to think, there's yet another one of these to come...

Have to agree with that. Another opportunity lost. It's not ugly by any means, it's just not much of anything.

It's only filler if BA West didn't exist. It's a significant complex both in the skyline and as part of the CBD.

I don't understand the hate. This complex, when finished, will add a lot of premium office space to the Financial District. And, following in the tradition of many other buildings in this district, it is understated and tasteful. (There's a reason they film Suits here.)

The problem is that there is no architecture. It's just a structural frame with panels of glass attached to it for shelter.

There's not much to hate, since there's not really much here. Premium office space, sure, but if there was such thing as a building that wasn't designed, this is it. The materials are shiny and it's tall, but it's really no more aesthetically complex than a sprawling Costco warehouse in the suburbs.

Costco? Really? It may not be Burj Khalifa but it certainly isn't that horrible. I actually quite like it. Adds significantly to the core in many ways including design. Certainly different from other towers in the core.

I don't mind it either. There's little to love or admire, but I'm not sure it puts the core at a deficit either. As I said earlier, as a densifier I think this is a positive addition. As structural art, it's not an addition at all. So I take its bare existence to be a net plus.
