In person, the shorter, podium section really is an Attack of the 80s. If it's not handled well, mirrored glass can look super-duper chintzy.

Agreed that the podium needs finer detail - taking the channel spandrel across it would have helped.

Although giant boxes, I can always appreciate how well these types of office buildings age over time. Bay Adelaide west is 5 years old and it looks as good as it does when it opened. Same can be said about the TD Centre (although it has gone through renovations; it's design is timeless).

I think that the mirrored glass of the podium gives a lot of lightness to what is actually quite a large and heavy box. With the way the second floor hangs from the third, and the transparency of the glass that (according to the rendering) will be installed, I think this podium could almost float.

Well, the tower is at least a striped mirrored box.
