Those townhouses behind this project and Nautique are going to have some pretty awful shadows casting over them. Plus the reduced privacy. Don't mean to sound nimby, but perhaps these two projects are too tall for this area.

If I remember correctly, the area is zoned for multi stories as it should be. So the shadow problem would exist at certain times of the day for those properties within the shadow line. However, if memory serves, the developer appealed for extra height, as developers do, and the committee caved (as usual) and overrode the cities existing city plan for the area. Unfortunate for many.
 
I was in the area so went for a little walkabout….crane is up. It’s the outstanding heritage preservation - what a farce. Also note the looming dark presence next door, still in the works.

Black spandrel isn't awful. At least until it starts to fade and the film starts to crack
Of course, you're referring to the building behind this one, Nautique. It'll be a long time before any kind of cladding appears on BeauSoleil.
