That sidewalk is the traditional width for downtown and could never have a cafe especially since it will be in continuous shadow making it cold and uninviting. It would be nice if this city did have wider sidewalks.

The retail on Adelaide seems to be struggling enough. I'd prefer to see no retail presence of significance on Pearl.

I wonder what it would take to get the sidewalks widened on a street like this. I realize it would be more difficult on a thoroughfare, like Adelaide, but if this is going to turn out to be basically a residential street it would be nice to have it tree lined.

Maybe they could ask the team developing the parking lot across the street to pay for it.

I believe the development across the street has agreed to pull back a bit from the sidewalk in order to improve the feel of that street.
