That's an interesting question. I imagine he used his money from real estate sales and his knowledge of the market to buy attractive pieces of land. With assets like land, you can get the financing to build what you want on one property.
 
Another nice shade of blue. Not a hint of green, except from the reflection of the tree.

Incredible how trees make streets look beautiful. Just look at that picture. there is nothing special about it except for those mature trees and it looks awesome.

Agreed. The city really needs more large, healthy trees downtown. So many public realm deficiencies could be forgiven if only there was a lush tree canopy. We have way too many dusty, desolate streetscapes. I really hope Waterfront Toronto's soil cell technology spreads to other parts of the city.
