I wonder where the most remote skyscraper is in North America; i.e. in a place that is not part of a suburban/metro type of situation. I was intrigued about the one mentioned above but it's located in a very suburban environment that surrounds it entirely.

Probably Yellowknife, NWT actually. Only 19,000~ people, 600-1000 km from any other major city (depending on whether you count Fort Mac as a big city or not). But several genuine skyscrapers as it is a major regional centre for the entirety of the Canadian Arctic.

My bet is Whittier, Alaska. A small village of about 220 people, who almost entirely live in a single 14 storey apartment building. Access to the town is via a single lane ( stop lights on each end controlling directional travel) combined Road / rail tunnel, a few hours outside of Anchorage.

The entire podium has no relation to the tower architecture, at all.

I would offer up Turning Stone Casino near Oneida New York. It's a 20 story tower seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

Not to add to the off topic discussion but to settle this discussion the Mohegan Sun Sky Tower in Uncasville has under 10,000 residents with no other nearby major cities. This 34 storey, 148.4M skyscraper misses the mark for a CTBUH defined skyscraper by only 1.5 meters, ridiculous scale in the middle of a forest.

Also, it's interesting that the site has a height constraint, allowing a maximum height of 191m. This constraint is dictated by runway 15 at Downsview airport.

my understanding is that the restriction applies to all of VMC - don't be expecting a 260m, 77 storey building in VMC any time soon (unless of course Downsview closes).
