Are they using different concrete now as exposed from the last jump? Is there summer/winter concrete or does that just apply to our gasoline monopoly.

This is a hideous building. It's the last thing the city needs. What of the residential building at 18 Yonge Street. It will be completely shadowed of sunlight. What of hhe residence in the area and our livable city.
Toronto is not just an economic city but part of a social society. Stop the development of 85 Bay street.
This project is in clear violation of the shadow laws and block out nesesarry sunlight on residents of 18 Yonge Street Toronto a residential neighbour . 49 stories and the close proximity plus space allowed for construction would have an unfair impact and access to sunlight to a residential residence.

The Site Plan Approval application for the development of this 48 storey office tower on 45 Bay Street needs a new more detaled shadow impact to reflect the rights of the tennant of 18 Yonge Street and their right to sunlight and quality of life.
It's corporate Pe@#s envy to have the tallest building at the expense of the residence of TO.

Just thought of Wade's complaints again for the first time in two years. (Those posts are from pages 103 and 107.) Not to rub it in, but I wonder how he's feeling about all of this.

Some sympathy, but really not very much. It can't be fun to have this big a construction project next door for years... Hines appear to have played it pretty straight with their information releases, but there's no sugar coating that pill. The irony though of choosing to live in tall building right next to the downtown core, sandwiched between an elevated expressway and railtracks, and then getting outraged that another tall building is built next door on a vacant parking lot showed a spectacular naivety. If he wanted to live somewhere without neighbours, it's not like Canada doesn't have options...

These will be pretty no doubt... but before put the "real" CIBC Tower is put in the home for aging talls, let's remember this simple perfect Pei engaged us and bewildered architects and engineers from around the world ("gee ur sure the wind won't blow this down?). Still amazing view from the sidewalk Hard to touch a tower and look up these days.

Last of the April Showers, Friday

Westside Story; There was a floor jump earlier in the week and crane#2 had a 3 piece extension and new supports added.

In the lower section of the core, you may notice they completed moving the crane supports from the core to the exterior steel beam frame of the building.

BONUS! Are these crates of glass windows? They've been moving these, under cover of darkness, and it can get quite noisy with truck deliveries and crane movements in the very early hours of the morning.

Now is your chance to complain that the glass is too green, the glass is too blue, the glass is too clear, the glass frames are too aluminum, the glass should be black, the glass is too opaque, the polka dots aren't large enough to discourage the birds the polka dots are too big and will annoy the raccoons, the glass looks like it's wrapped in plastic, etc, etc, etc

Eastside Story; continued work on completing level three floor, some new steel trusses have been added, the east wall is almost complete and the train blast wall is being extended along the north wall
