The problem for me is that Metrolinx as this point should be giving a timeline with monthly updates where by the public at large can at least understand what the hold up is. I mean the thing is built. This should be a positive exciting time and with their silence they are creating such a negative outcome. What are they afraid of?, their reputations is already damaged beyond repair. Transparency would go some way to redeem themselves in my view.

The finch west system has these no idea why they wouldn’t do it for eglinton

Much of the visual work happening now is for things such as landscaping and signage - stuff that is very visible because it is happening around the stations and portals, and that could have been done once the line was up and running.

The work happening last year - and there was lots of it - was happening underground where it would be much harder to see at a glance.

Dan
There’s definitely work happening underground at Eglinton that wasn’t happening last year. There’s crews visibly working along the street at the open sections almost everyday and machinery moving in and outs beyond station finishing and signage.

Oh absolutely. They are finally backfilling all of the excavation around Yonge and Eglinton now.

But last year, they were forming and pouring concrete into those voids. Only once that was done could they get to the backfilling.

But everywhere else on the line, now, they're doing the final touches, not the intensive construction of earlier in the project. Planting trees, installing the final bits of signage and cleaning the stations are not things that you do while you're still doing electrical work, plumbing, tiling, etc.

Does anyone know when the Metrolinx announcement will be?

Good News (i.e. Opening Date or Range of Opening Months) - Either Wednesday or Thursday so they can get a news cycle out of it
Bad News (i.e. no opening date or range but rather we are getting closer to opening) - Friday Afternoon right before the weekend so peoples energy turns to the weekend and the legislature is closed on weekends so no questions till things cool down on Monday.

End of Week means Saturday according to the International Standard Week (ISO 8601) so we should find out by Saturday latest unless Metrolinx again delays their announcement.

"The 7-day week is the international standard week (ISO 8601) used by the majority of the world. Almost all countries in North and South America start their week on Sunday. Countries in Europe and Oceania overwhelmingly start on Monday. The world’s most populated continents are split: roughly half the countries in Africa and Asia are on team Sunday, the other on team Monday."

P.S. the EGLRT Metrolinx site - Project Overview section (youtube video) doesn't work and link is broken. If they can't get this right, how will they get the lrt right.

I am sure no one here has any date when this line will open and we well know that date when either ML or the Province decide to tell us that great day.

Set back and wait for that announcement like I am along with other and it will be some time in 2024. It may come as a Christmas present.

Has anyone tried asking construction crews on site what they know? (not about opening but about what’s in the works)

At this rate, seems like the best bet for new information.

They likely only know what they are being told or what they are doing. I doubt they have information beyond what is in front of them.
