Is there anyone here who understands sketchy idiot as a second language who can say what safety issues could possibly arise from knowing what is wrong with this line? Or why anyone should accept economic harm as an argument for keeping such fundamental information a secret?
This is what P3s are for, limit the information the public has a right to so that there are fewer stories to embarrass the government. Flood the zone with positive stories and if you must release negative information it can be properly spun to limit damage.

I have no doubt that if the TTC were in charge of this project there could be similar challenges with delivery, but we'd at least understand more of what's going on and those to blame would have the threat of being sacked. This project should be a wake up call that the private sector isn't necessarily any better at delivering projects than the public sector, they're just a lot better hiding embarrassing information. That's great for the politicians, but not so great for the rest of us.

Operators aren't going to be picketing construction sites as they aren't yet the locations where they work.

And in case you aren't making some reference to current labour negotiations, having a public agency responsible for project delivery doesn't stop them from hiring private companies to actually execute the work and I totally expect them to do so. As well, plenty of construction workers are unionized and can go on strike affecting privately delivered projects just as easily as public ones.

What Work is Taking Place?
AccesThrough June 2024, crews will be continuing with sidewalk deficiency repair works at various locations along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road (refer to map).

To facilitate this work safely, short-term sidewalk closures will be in place on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road. Temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones will be in effect. Property access will be always maintained.

Periodic lane reductions may be required to facilitate restoration activities. One lane of traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be always maintained.

This work is expected to take place on Monday – Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Upon completion of this work, short term lane reductions may be required to facilitate special activities.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Temporary pedestrian rerouting will be implemented. Noise from construction activities can be expected.

HOURS OF WORK
• Ongoing through June 2024.
• This work is expected to take place Monday - Friday between
7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• This work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather and/or
unforeseen circumstances.
•This work may be longer or shorter than expected.

TRAFFIC DETAILS
• Periodic lane reductions may be required to facilitate restoration
activities.
• One lane of traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be always
maintained.

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS
• Periodic sidewalk closures will be in place on Eglinton Avenue East,
between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road.

^ Remarkable that the driver did this without even touching whatever that sign is....my theory would be, thinking it would be possible to do a U-turn over the tracks?

Probably did and maybe got part way over the ROW, but then got sort of stuck and made some futile attempts to get out of it before winding up in that spot and giving up.
 
Wouldn't be a problem if we had constructed the line as a subway. Just saying. :cool:

The time for discussing how the line should have been built is 14 years gone. It's a waste of time to talk about. The only thing to talk about now is what steps can be taken to mitigate the shortcomings of the line in its present form.

The first question we should be asking ourselves is why is the line nearly flush with the roadway to begin with? Putting up a raised concrete or steel divider can't prevent access to the trackway in all circumstances, but could have prevented this particular incident.
