I'm thinking it is one building stepping up from 9 to 15 storeys.

I think it's several buildings.
Just looking at the development application, it calls for 673 units.
If that were 1 building divided by 15 storeys = 673/15 = ~45 units PER floor; unless it's something along the line of King West Life Condo from Plazacorp.
 
definitely reads as one building.

I know, which is why I think it's something along the lines of King West Life.

Maybe 2 mid-rise blocks with terraced levels with a podium in between.
 
Agreed.

With that massing, this project will fit in well with the other hulking behemoth mid-rise condo-plexes along this stretch of King that are also pretty kitschy or downright ugly (Elektra).
 
the proposed building is outright MASSIVE with little articulation .... it will be just one HUGE wall along King Street creating a totally non-pestrian scaled envionment

IMO ... UGLY

Hard to say by the line-drawings provided, but it doesn't look promising. It looks hulking, and King Street deserves better.
