I mean, it turned out exactly how I said it would prior to all this work happening. The idea that this was going to be a mall corridor was nothing but speculation.

Other than Cadillac Fairview referring to it as a mall corridor/hallway connecting north and south ends of the mall, literally any time they spoke to media or issued press releases about it, it was uh... mere speculation.

I feel like the PR people hadn't talked to the architects/engineers here. Cus like, yeah calling it a hallway is a stretch. I actually like the little space with all 3 stores opening on to it, but it isn't a "hallway". But that can be the problem with marketing, they oversell things.

That said, I do think what we ended up with is better than Nordstrom and also I'm not sure if there's a solution to giving Simons a large ground floor space (which is necessary for an anchor store) with access to Yonge (also necessary for an anchor store) without moving the escalators from where they already were, which was probably stupidly expensive, so we have ended up with what we have.

And to be fair, there are still 2 levels of the mall (arguably 3 if you count the Urban Eatery, which I don't but some might) with direct access under this space to the Dundas entrance so it's not like it's some impervious block cutting the mall in two.

So... Simons, Eately, Nike. 😂
Maybe. There's been rumours of another store instead of one of those three (also from the north end of TEC, and not currently present in downtown Vancouver) but not sure if that ended up happening or not. Given Aritizia was announced recently im sure the full Pacific Centre announcement will happen sooner than later. So my guess is it's 2 of the three at the least, and maybe yeah it's the same 3. We'll see soon enough I guess,

Uniqlo would be the other possibility, I think.

You're lucky that the former Dundas Atrium area exists, forcing a passage through the old Eatons/Sears/Nordstrom space to maintain connectivity. In Vancouver, at grade, there is no need for connectivity across the space because the mall is underground. We suspect that the former Eatons/Sears/Nordstrom space will be demised with walls blocking passage across and which could leave a Simons without access from the western side unless an Eatons/Sears entrance that Nordstrom blocked off is reinstated. The Aritizia is thought to be taking over the Boss store in the mall, so that would provide some access to the mall down through Aritzia.
