I thought it was approved and under construction.
Congratulations to the City on calling the north tower the tall one and the south tower the short one. Meanwhile their 34 storey number for the short tower does not jive with our 36 storey count.

I wonder if we will see more tall towers at Yong and Eglinton or if this development and the Minto one are the exceptions.

There are several in the pipeline that were approved by city council recently.
It is quite amazing to see. From one spot you can see Madison, E, Yonge-Eg Centre expansion, Eglinton Crosstown extraction shaft construction.

I was wondering about towers over 50s. I know there is local opposition to towers that big. I'm just wondering what the scale will be like.

The 34 storeys appears to be correct, down from the approved 36. The July 10th report mentions the change:

"The proposal is to demolish the 3-storey, rental apartment building at 31 Roehampton
Avenue that has 10 bachelor units, 23 one bedroom units and 2 two bedroom units of
mid-range rents. The applicant would replace all of these units by size, type, number and
approximate rent levels in a proposed 34-storey apartment building (down from the 36
storeys previously approved by Council) with 465 units at 25 to 31 Roehampton Avenue."
Also worth noting 31 Roehampton appears to be destined for the wrecking ball and the units replaced as rentals in the new build.

Yeah, in general I'd expect the shorter apartment buildings within the apartment zone to be tempting for developers to demolish & rebuild taller towers on.
