^i wonder how they are going to enjoy increase in property value except for paying more property tax...

Condos that will be build at Plant World will be accepting down payments soon. On the east side of the plaza on Eglinton and Lloyd Manor its fenced off, condo there as well. The area has enough greenery and parks (eglinton flats, humber river, buttonwood park, richview park, west deane park + all the greenery belonging to all the schools in the vicinity). I support high rise condos along all major intersections on Eglinton West, after the LRT is built. It was a huge mistake to allow the developer to build town houses on the richview lands. Lots of wasted opportunity to build high density communities close to a major source of employment (airport & surrounding businesses).

Our tax dollars is actually funding that condo! Supported by John Tory and the Feds! For the so needed affordable housing:

On the other hand, the local residents will not be delighted to have all this greenery destroyed.

That's why I don't like trenched*, and it should covered with sod.
Actually trenched with open top still leave open the possibility of vandals throwing things onto tracks, snow and other weather potentially accumulating and disrupting trains, etc.

It does not, it sounds like an even more paired down version of Option 4.

I interpreted this as Royal York to Martin Grove would be underground - so the actual transition occurs somewhere between Scarlet and Royal York, and somewhere west of Martin Grove.
It is hopeful that they may be zeroing in on correct solution - that we should have had 6 years ago if planners were on the ball.

They should build it as a shallow subway. It'll be completed must faster with a lower cost than TBM and deep station excavation.

So this project is going ahead, but what about the airport section? Renforth to Terminal 1?

Before the Ford plan, it was Toronto that had to convince Mississauga, Peel, and/or GTAA to fund that segment. Now that Ford is paying some of the freight, that commitment may be easier. Or Ford may just force it on them.

It would be ironic if Ford sponsored a line that terminated at Renforth, which is where The Tory cronies who put him up to the original Smarttracj proposal, reportedly have land interests.

But the plane would be delayed then because of the underground portion.

Isn't the whole idea of an Eglinton West connection to the airport redundant since it will connect to UPX at Mount Dennis station anyways?

Mount Dennis to UPX would be so much faster to get to the airport than staying on an LRT.

Eglinton West seems to be waste of money for such low ridership. It may not really be much faster than buses.

For people coming from Toronto, yes - but if you want to look Regionally, a connection at Renforth makes sense as it will connect with GO and Miway buses that come through the transitway. Second point stands though - that buses could be faster.

Then why so many automobiles around the airport area. An area that needs a rapid transit replacement as more and more business come to be around the airport (not just in it). They want to replace the use of cars with the use of rapid transit instead.

See link.

Also, a low-capacity premium express service from Mount Dennis isn't going to get the employees to the airport. Check out Heathrow - a lot of travellers arrive on the Heathrow Express, but a lot of workers arrive on other forms of transit, such as the tube and the cheaper non-express trains.
