It will take mew technology because there is no cladding and shape like that in the world.
Do you know how hard it was to build Burj Khalifa
(Dubai),absolute towers(Mississauga) or flame tower (Baku).
All these towers needed new technology to be built. Mirvish will not be exception.

They're not reinventing the wheel here or did they in Dubai, Mississauga and, Baku.

Interesting tidbit in there:

"Frank’s (Gehry) involvement means that things are constantly evolving and changing. He’s been tweaking the skin of the building and changing the schematics."

I hope it's better than 8 spruce. Not a huge fan of the cladding on it. I feel like a lot of the subtleties are lost with that cladding.

From that link, for purpose of teasing:

The tower on the left doesn't look unlike Gehry's Beekman Tower.

To give some perspective, 8 Spruce was constructed between 2006 & 2010 and had construction cost of $875 million USD at the time for one tower at 1 million sqft.

Mirvish-Gehry will be two towers and nearly twice that sqft. Not taking inflation into account, the current conversion rate would put the construction cost at nearly $2.2 billion CAD for an 8 Spruce level build. Factor in some profit, and that's gonna be a couple thousand very expensive apartments to sell.

Considering we are getting closer to launch, I had always assumed that the name 'Mirvish+Gehry' would be replaced in the latter stages of the project. While the names behind this project are particularly important, especially in this case, and even a selling point, marketing this project under a different name that was less awkward to say seemed logical. As some promo material has surfaced, it makes me wonder if the name is here to stay?

One tower to be called Mirvish the other tower Gehry. Seems about right considering the egos involved.

I'm assuming that they're going to do some serious value engineering here including going with cheaper materials than were used at 8 Spruce. Even so, these units will indeed be quite expensive.

Yeah, it's a ton of units to sell in the competitive Entertainment District market. I think raising the capital in order to build a 400 to 500 million dollar condo tower is a bigger hurdle. Mirvish will have to give up a ton of equity.
