This will be goodbye to Valdez then (while Buca remains, as its building is not being torn down).

EDIT: Wait maybe not, I may have jumped the gun. Maybe the building Valdez is in stays too? Anyone know for certain?

RE-EDIT: Valdez is gone in all of the renderings, but the confusion comes from press release saying 602-606 King West is the rental component, that it is fully leased, and will continue to be throughout construction. Hmm.

Here's part of Michael Emory's response to my inquiry: "606 will remain leased for a period of time after commencement of construction, but it will be demolished to make room for the integration of old and new."

So, they'll be cooking at Valdez for some time to come, but who knows for how long…

Demolition of the 620 King Street West building is now actively underway - starting with the interior gutting. Apologies for the poor quality of the image - cell phone taken into the sun.

Steel girders for the shoring work arrived on site today. With the mid-block nature of the project, and where the steel was being unloaded, there was no decent perspective to take a picture.

Shoring activities now underway - west side of site. In other activities, a large tank was removed from inside the building which used to house the Correnti Cigar operation, with additional demolition equipment now on site for the specific purpose of taking that building down. Demolition of the 620 King West building is also continuing.
