The perpetuation of low income = crime in a few of the recent posts just shows how lively such prejudices are.
 
My predictions don't mean this year, or next. How about 2035, when these buildings will be showing their age?

As for low income=high crime, interesting comparing downtown Hamilton crime rates to downtown Toronto's....

It looks like they have been doing some more digging this week and it appears as though they found some old foundations. They also hit some water...I will try and get some pics, but if anyone else is in the area, don't forget your camera!

This structure is just to the southeast of Fort York. My copy of the Historical Atlas of Toronto indicates that there was a battery (basically a small fort with several cannon emplaced) at that site, called the "Ravine Battery".

In the above map, the Ravine Battery (to the southeast of Fort York proper) is marked 'B', and recorded as having two 18-pounder regular cannon and two 24-pounder carronades.

April 15 This shows how much earth fill was used to push the waterfront from this area to where it is now.

They hit the Garrison Creek for the water that ran wild in its youth.

I hope they are required to save the old Ft. York structure, allowing people to remove or preserve it as a part of our history. Maybe this wall could be returned to the ground as a memorial/site of interest once project is completed?
