I feel like with monsoon season here, and the proliferation of YouTube walkers - we need a rain walker. Cuz I ain’t going out in all that, but I am definitely curious about how the new river looks in a torrential storm.

That being said, I think it would be fun if the city got into YouTube. Set up a channel and a series of nature cams, collect whatever ad revenue came from it. There’s gotta be some place to stick a camera or two in Tommy Thompson for some quality birding. Island skyline view. Between the walkers and the lofi channels, I could easily see myself putting on a live cam of the Don River/ Commissioners Bridge with a soundtrack of local musicians while I work or make dinner.

While the new river is connected, the north plug is still mostly in place. That 2m stretch is not providing much relief. The only chance for it make a meaningful contribution would be if the level was so high as to overtop the plug which would be catastrophic flooding in the valley.

Well this is the river level at Gerrard Street Bridge at 1:15PM. Just snapped these myself. It's all headed down to the PLUG. Wouldn't be surprised if it overtops it. But who knows, maybe Keating Channel can handle it all.

In the case of the DVP - I don't believe any of them would have kept that section from flooding - the highway will always be on the wrong side of FPLs.

So that they can exit downtown via a flooded Union Station, or a flooded DVP/Bayview, or a Flooded Lake Shore Blvd West!
