Wow! That's some BMU (Building Maintenance Unit) on the roof. It never occurred to me before how they were going to wash or maintain the windows/balconies on the south side of the building.

This is obviously a recreation of the kenner 1978 death star playset and that thing on the roof is the laser cannon.

Yesterday.

I have been thinking how cool it would be for Moshe Safdie to create 'Habitat '18' at Toronto's waterfront (and other Canadian waterfronts) with varying amounts of cubes depending on the size of the available land. It would be a neat way to tie in uniquely Canadian architecture to our waterfronts across the country and would be in line with his concept of modular and pre-fab housing. Has anyone else thought about this? Surely I can't be the first one.

If all those boats are of people who have anchored a bit out into the lake and are sleeping/relaxing on the water, that is a mighty fine idea.

From the water's edge promenade:

Went down there last week and liked what I saw. This area already feels wonderful to walk around and it's not even a third done.

And...up we go.

Morning sun glint off the rising balcony glass before the pesky stratocumulus set in.

White treatments of the bulky cement doohickies.

The 'walk the plank' balcony glass treatments...opaque on the sides with clear ends. The opposite for the more traditional building-hugging balconies (perhaps to enhance lake views?). Also note the attention to detail: The white framing of the entire plank with the addition of balcony glass. Love the effect!
