I really love how the balcony style changes with every adjacent floor (i.e. alternates between the traditional-style vs. the plank-style). This essentially makes the balcony's "ceiling" two-storey high. It'd make the balcony more open and enjoyable vs. the traditional one-storey height like in Aqualina, which feels crammed.

So the plank-style design actually also benefits the odd floor number traditional balconies.

Interesting observation! I think there are pros and cons to both styles. With Mode, as stunning as the balcony placement is, there will be little privacy among your neighbours in the same building (bit of a fish bowl), even though you currently don't have an adjacent buildings like Aqualina (but they are coming...). In this case, this open concept style of balconies also makes it tough to enjoy from hugging up against the Gardiner.

Personally, I'd rather a balcony on the South side of Queens Quay. But I see both sides

The moment they put those horizontal beams across the south end of the podium, the design had finally received the final blow for me, and the design intent was lost. The project looks clumsy to my eyes, and even the sleek glazing can't save it. The ziggurat approach was integral to the podium design; once that was stripped away with each iteration, it became a heavy, dull box.

I am trying really hard to like all of it because I was a big proponent of earlier iterations of the design but each time I pass it I just don't connect with it. Urbanistically speaking, however, the podium will be great for Sherbourne Common.

Edit: I should clarify, the tower itself is nice, and very sleek, and has the right feel for a building next to the water. It's the lower floors of the project that suffered as the design developed.

So it seems that there's still a disconnect between the tower and the base. I love the tower. Not so much the base. Not enough glass IMO. Can't believe I'm saying that.

I quite agree that the change of the south end feature was a loss. It is a disappointing item in what is otherwise a very welcome addition to the ho-hum ambiance of an evolving east waterfront. People will walk by the south facade of the base now with no reason for the lingering look, and that's too bad.

There is not one angle where this building looks absolutely stunning. This is a prime example of a quality build, and one doesn't have to stand in a certain place or at a certain angle to make the claim that it looks good.
