Key Dates. From link:

Tuesday May 1, 2018
  • First day for candidates to file a nomination paper for the office of mayor, councillor or school board trustee.
  • First day for an individual or entity to file a notice of registration as a third party advertiser.
  • Campaign period begins once a candidate’s nomination paper is filed, or once a third party advertiser’s registration is certified.
  • Preliminary expense limit and other legislative documentation is provided to a candidate on the day they file, or to a registered third party advertiser following certification.
  • MyVote – “Who’s running in my ward?” available for electors.
Friday July 27
  • Last day for a candidate to file a nomination.
  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – nominations or withdrawal cannot be accepted beyond 2 p.m.
Monday July 30
  • Certification of nomination papers to be completed by 4 p.m.
  • Declaration of acclamation provided after 4 p.m.
  • After the certification of the candidates, Proxy appointment forms available for electors who can not vote on any of the voting days.
Tuesday September 4
  • Voters’ list available to certified candidates.
  • Revision period begins – Electors may update or add their name to the voters’ list.
  • MyVote – “Am I on the voters’ list?” and “voter registration” is available for electors.
Tuesday September 25
  • Final expense limits provided to candidates and third party advertisers.
Monday October 1
  • MyVote – “Where do I vote?” is available for electors.
Friday October 19
  • Last day for an individual or entity to file a notice of registration as a third party advertiser.
Monday October 22
  • Voting day, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Monday December 31
  • Campaign period ends for candidates and registered third parties.
  • Last day for candidate or registered third parties to file an Extension of campaign period (Form 6).

Sorry, that was a poor choice of words. I meant that the only three people have officially stated their intention to run. Mike Layton is considering it as well.
 
I haven't seen him comment on a run for mayor yet.

Mammoliti won’t say if he’ll run for mayor if he loses provincially but says he will run for council in some capacity. Election period changes this year make this possible

I wonder if Mikey Ford could run this year? His name alone can get him at least 30% of the vote. He has the Ford brand and the populist appeal, and isn't he a tad more 'soft' on social issues? Plus, he'd have the endorsement of the (probable) Premier.

When he was elected I thought he would not stand again as he wouldn't take the hassle, but the Ford-Trump era of media management and his successful courting of the suburbs - or at least their councillors, plus his incumbent factor (retooling his 250K follower mayoral account into a campaign account) and his lock up of Bay St makes this a walkover.

And his daughter is running again in midtown. A reliable vote in the bank, albeit now out of 47. (at least until she runs for the former seat of Joe Oliver, Former Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament, Eglinton-Lawrence)
