Dooney's is history in the Annex of course, so what replaced it?

Not another trendy T(ea) cafe? NO! T is for Tapas here. Very confusing, as most passersby seem to think the T stands for tea.

Dark Horse Interior

Pix of Dark Horse Cafe on Spadina just north of Queen. The cafe activity that has sprung up along Spadina south of Queen is beginning to migrate north and intermingle with the existing establishments. Evolution of the street continues.

Pizzaiolo is moving into the space on King St W formerly occupied by Fresco's, directly across the street from Pizza Pizza (there's another Pizzaiolo at Adelaide & John and a few others scattered around town). Here are some guys painting the orange framework to match the green on Starbucks next door. The space Fresco's used to occupy has been split into two separate units.

Here's the temporary EQ3 outlet store at King & Brant and also a terrorist van. This is where the Old Hide House used to be.

Zoe's has expanded their seating area, and it looks great:

And disgustingly, each building they buy on the block, they're converting formerly ground floor storefront space into offices and glazing the windows. It's a disgrace.

But then again it follows their pattern of buying up trendy brands and turning them into crap.

The Great Hall on Queen (Queen and Dovercourt) has a liquour license application in the window--looks like another art gallery is going to become a bar....cool. (Although I was disgusted the other night to see a guy violently assault another man on Queen West by the Drake around 2am--very bloody brutal assault. Makes me wonder if WQW is headed towards the Club District style of idiots....?:()

(Bloor and Lansdowne is where us chill ppl will end up next imho.:))

Jaaadu on Yonge south of St. Clair has closed and will soon be replaced by Chef of India (they have another location on Eglinton East). It appears that Mint across the street (formerly Ocean) has also closed. Bagel House (!!) has opened where Sweet Rosie's was.

The Water Shoppe on the Danforth closed recently, and was quickly replaced by an outlet of the Tea Emporium (the change occurred so quickly that I wonder if it is the same owners who have simply switched banners/concepts).

The Water Shoppe was quite a nice store, but they truly opened at a time when their main product (bottled water) is under siege.

Lettuce Eatery has switched over to their Freshii brand (at least the one on King, east of Yonge has. Not sure if others have switched yet).

Lettuce at Richmond and Spadina also appears to be rebranding.
