Farm Boy typically has medium-size stores, although a lot of their newer locations are getting larger. Shoppers Drug Mart is medium-size as well but it's not a true grocery store. Usually need around 10,000 square feet to operate a full service grocery store.
 
Don’t forget Marché Leo or Spacchio.

Marche and Rabba offer mini-formats, but at a bit of a higher price point than the majors. Spaccio is hyper-specialty and outside most shopper's routine budgets. (good stuff though)

Farm Boy's size range is generally 12,000-38,000ft2

Sobey's Urban Fresh can get as small as ~8,000ft2

Rabba tends to range from 3,500ft2 to 5,000ft2
