Ha.. Nature always finds a way! This is their city.. We are just visiting!

^ Wow, that must've been some wonderfully stinky compost that was simply too enticing to pass up. Persistent little creatures...

They may have tested the new green bins against raccoons, but they must not have tested it with other animals.

Next time test it with all animals. Test it at the zoo... and city council meetings.

I had a bin chewed through just like that the one in the photo. Squirrels have very sharp teeth.

The twitter folks think that the photo's a hoax, the guy damaged the bin himself.

why would a squirrel make a hole so much bigger than it needs? they only need to fit their body through?

My skeptic meter is high on this one too. When was the last time you saw a squirrel rummage through garbage. Not only that, but to be so determined to gnaw into an unused (i.e. empty, no compost, no smell) bin with a hole that size? Did it think there'd be nuts in there?

You know It's not uncommon for squirrels to chew through bins. Squirrels chew on such things to clean, sharpen and maintain their teeth.

So the city cocked up the green bins yet again. How pathetic that a bunch of little animals outsmarted the people who designed this.
