I felt the same about the Thompson. Not that I was expecting 'grandeur' per se, but something special. It was all extremely mediocre, and in fact I'd say inferior to many other places I've been to. Maybe it's just the hoser/socialist market in Toronto? Like, anything too grand or luxe is just somehow anti-Toronto?

Seems to be. Just refer to the 94 Cumberland thread. You'll see how strongly "tony" Yorkville's shabby chic is defended.

Would love to know how the Thompson is actually doing. Their much vaunted rooftop is a case in point of catering to the 905 market. Its a tiny space, thats broken up by bulkheads and is only really usable for maybe 5 months of the year... Toronto's a funny town - we have our own eco-system in a lot of respects.

Naw. We just see the area's potential for improvement, instead of uncreatively suggesting that everything get replaced by bigger buildings.

Was thinking 1 March 2011 that maybe BJL's Theatre crowd won't have a view of RC etc eventually...buildings in this photo could go highrise....:D

What can you say in this hot market,...its a sign of the times here in Toronto in which landlords want to dump these mediocre "high maintenance" small buildings and the developers want to purchase and build.

man if they don't put on the logo this building it will be a big disappointment because it looks like a giant razor blade to me.

So let's just go with the flow, because you know the results are bound to be amazing  .

Ewe. Two interior design crimes side-by-side in the Ritz? A 905er lottery winner?

WOW! that is incredible ^^^
i'm guessing these are the residential floors! incredible how transparent things are and how identical each unit is stacked on top of eachother!
not to mention, people's choices of colours! one dude painted it yellow, the other dude painted it beige! intense. almost hypnotizing! :D
thanks for getting these insane pics for us android!

question of the day:
What colour would you paint your unit?....

I wouldn't paint a unit at the Ritz. The windows don't open! i can't imange how bad the fumes must be in that place.
