Does anyone know if the fountain outside the CN tower has finally been fixed ?

Hasn't been turned on yet if it has been fixed. The fact it's been out of service for over a year is pathetic. Hopefully given the fishy theme of the fountain (excellent foresight there), it'll be in service soon enough.

I'm curious why they decided to build this in two phases.

The first phase is about 100K square feet (same size of the one in Vancouver) and the second an additional 50K ... wouldn't it be much cheaper to build it all in one shot ?

I guess they're not sure how much demand there will be ?

I believe the retail space near the CN tower is completely independent.

I thought they were doing both phases at once.. hence why the skywalk got shut down. (it originally was suppose to be usable when only phase 1 was going to be done..)

No don't think so, most recent reports I've seen have specifically refereed to phase 1 only.

That along with the one on University Ave. It looks dreadful with it having been so dry for so long.

Ah your right ! But the city reports don't mention anything along those lines ...
Maybe the reports are old.

Good catch though.

So 1 phase only for a total of 130ish K in size.

Nice pic, looking a this view , i can see a Casino being proposed on that empty lot (that the city will eventually unload) south of the Dome/Gardiner on the Queens Quay.

I dont think the city would want a casino in such a family friendly/tourist friendly place. Although i wouldnt mind being able to have a few rounds at the blackjack table between a jays/leafs/raps game and a relaxing trip up the CN tower

Are you talking about the parking lot north of HTO park? I don't think it's big enough for the type of complex they're talking about. Plus, it's smack in the middle of an almost exclusively residential area.

Probably not doable and not sure if casino is the best plans for this spot but that area in blue in the picture below between Rogers Centre and HTO Park would make for an amazing complex with a pedway spanning over the Gardiner connecting two spots would be an amazing gateway into the City!!!

I hope not. It is a view corridor, and the only corridor left where you can see the Rogers Centre from in skyline shots. We should be preserving this corridor by either building something low rise, or turning it into a park.

We need to build a 3 or 4 storey building to block out the Gardiner and also protect the view of the Skydome. A nice museum or a shopping/amusement/tourist attraction would work well here. Our waterfront lacks major attractions.

Does it need major attractions? How about something for people who already live in or visit the area. Retail down on QQ is abysmal, and for a prime waterfront location the area is severely lacking in open air cafes, bars and restaurants.
