Would the non-existent QQE LRT be enough to support the crowds going to a potential stadium in the Portlands?
I guess we could also go Montreal style, with that Longueuil line, if we had the political willpower.

All that to say the Portlands seem like an unlikely option given the absence of transit.

Not sure if you aware of this, but there's thing called the Ontario line being built, and on that line there is going to be something called East Harbour Transit Hub. That transit hub is going to be immediately east of DVP and south of Eastern Avenue. Right in the heart of the Portlands.

Beat me to the punch a bit. Yes the East Harbour transit station, though ill sited for my preferred stadium location, will see Lakeshore (and Stoufville?) GO and Ontario line service. Plus Cherry and QQE streetcar service. The walk from East Harbour station to the stadium would be no longer than the current walking distance from Union to Rogers Centre (~1 km). Access from the East would probably improve since the trip would avoid the Bloor-Yonge interchange, but from the North and North West might decline since there would be no easy access to the site from the Bloor Line and/or would necessitate a transfer at Union.

Would a Portlands site suffer the same troubles as Exhibition? Yes. But at least by separating them to different sites, on either side of Union no one area gets hammered

I honestly don't even know how serious that location is, but I just remember that area being bandied about when talk of a new stadium began. Having said that, it's one of the only few locations that makes practical sense. They're not going to put the stadium uptown at Downsview. They want to keep it downtown, and if they're going to keep it DT, that area is the only area I can think off with the room to develop. With that transit hub coming in, it makes sense. The Ontario line is supposed to be complete around 2031, so the time frame of building a new stadium also jives as were talking between 7=10 years from now.

Again, Rogers feels like they sitting on the asset that's not making them nearly enough money. (the big lease they have where the Dome is now)

So right now they make money of 81 home Jay's games, and the odd Taylor Swift concert...lol. Now if you put offices and condo's or whatever else on that land, with year round tennants, my guess is that's more profitable.

And put this stadium where in the Portlands exactly?

just like that?

Well I mean we're talking 7-10 years from now, that whole area is still in the planning stage. You're trying to suggest between now and then there isn't going to be room for changes?

Furthermore, I'm not even sure how legit this rumor was, it just made sense to me given the even more challenges to put the stadium anywhere else.

Obviously aware. Where would you envision a potential stadium being built within walking distance to that station?

At minimum, you would need a spur line.

I'm asking where you'd place this hypothetical stadium that's close to the East Harbour transit hub.

My guess is the stadium would be somewhat close to the transit hub.

It's a 10 minute walk from Union Station to the RC. I'm sure if they indeed decided to put the stadium there, my guess is they would try to keep close to the transit hub as possible. Maybe like a 10 minute walk?

So it would be a similar set up.

Any my answer was one of the patches of land with no buildings on it.

I'm not sure what the argument is here. Is the only way to have a new stadium is if the train drives right into the stadium??

We're literally talking about a 10 minute walk from most of that area, the same distance it takes to walk from Union to Rogers Centre.

I mean these issue are small in contrast to the challenges of putting the stadium somewhere else.
