Yeah, as much as I love this project and its design, the northwest corner and southeast corner "slices" with clear glazing are jarring. Not a fan. I don't imagine they really contribute that greatly to the interior spaces but I suppose I'll wait and see.

Really ? I like the contrast

My read on the building was that any slices into the main volume are clad in the reflective blue paneling as seen on the main corner entry area. The slices that are clear glazing don't make sense to me within the motif of the building.

Pretty minor complaint though, to be fair. I'm blown away by this project (in a good way) for all sorts of reasons. In a city full of development that is residential (and therefore mostly predictably "pancake"), the topography and variation of spaces within this project are really exciting. Truly an exercise in architecture.

Actually I find it logical - the slices facing upward are clad in clear glazing and those downward in blue alubond - those would look awkward if used at the top floor.

One can only imagine what it'd be like if it was less value-engineered - very early renderings suggested diamond-shaped glazing like in OMA's Seattle Public Library. And speaking of Snohetta - check out the digitally fabricated cladding for SFMOMA addition in the current issue of Arch Record.

I'm not saying that I think the slices should be the same blue metallic material as below; rather I'm surprised the slices are included at all. I want to see how they relate to the spaces inside.

I am glad it wasn't engineered out - I thought they made the building visually more interesting. The relationship with the interior isn't very convincing IMHO.

Here's a little photo dump for the eyes to behold. Taken roughly 3 1/2 hours ago.

Questions have been asked recently about what the north wall of this building is going to look like, and if I recall correctly we mentioned in the Tour article a couple of weeks ago that the panelling would be perforated in the same pattern as the window frit.

Well, here's what I caught on Wednesday evening (and have lightened as much as I can), but please forgive the soft focus resulting from the handheld low-light shots.

The dark metal sticking out at the upper edges is the solid undercoat.

Ground level glass along Yonge is being installed. Looks like the sidewalk has been done too.

Great picture "someMidTowner" it captures the size and look of the building all in one picture.

its a nice building.... i'm just hoping its not too big and overpowering for the area. it looks like a giant glass cube has been dropped onto the block. .... its so big with all that glass, it causes you to step back and think "wow, what a massive square. looks like it going to fall onto the street"
