This is likely true though Maple Leaf Gardens survived as a NHL Arena until it was 67 years old.

The only issue is space. In 50 years we will end up like Ottawa where our arena is an hour outside town.
The SBA is also too small for a hockey arena. Nevermind that Toronto could support a 25,000-seat arena, the current one doesn't even fit the hockey rink without having a ton of obstructed-view seating in the upper levels. That's what happens when you decide you'll go in on an arena after it's already under construction and need to shoehorn yourself into the design.

Also yes the PATH connection is embarrassing.

Got to see the renovations at Scotiabank Arena concourses. The project is not fully finished yet but seeing lighting, the Real Sports store already getting the appeal on the shelves and not reopened yet, the bars are running and one washroom is going under renovations. (October 5, 2024)

They added gamer lights...

Unfortunately, no word on improving the ghastly and unsafe (and totally non-AODA compliant) stairs on the PATH network at the n-w corner of SBA.

Yeah, those stairs are an embarrassment. Both aesthetically and for accessibility.
