I think its a pretty good thing that they decided to go with 2 instead of 3 buildings...

I agree. It was VERY tight with three buildings; but I can still remember the issues when we deleted it. The retail along Park Lawn will be very interesting. The separate commercial building from the residential towers is a response to the requirement for a 30 metre setback and buffer from the Cookie factory accross the street, which fought us vehemently.:p
 
The funny thing is that I bet the developer of this tower, located in Etobicoke, will actually follow through on the deco-inspired crown.

this is the developer (Amexon's) first residential project, and the principal of the company is a very enthusiastic guy who always expressed a desire to make this a quality landmark project...so I think he will follow through on the details.
 
UrbanToronto recently toured the South Beach Condominiums sales pavilion and work site, from which we will be bringing you photos and details of the project soon, but for now we start with views from the Amexon Development project... specifically looking at the various other projects that one can see from this site.

We turn east towards Etobicoke's Humber Bay Shores skyline first, and the Toronto Skyline beyond it. Past the Christie's cookies plant in the foreground is [URL="http://www.monarchgroup.net/429,21-new-homes-CA-M8V0A3-ON-Etobicoke-Nautilus-Community.aspx"]Nautilus at Waterview[/URL] by the Monarch Group.

Nautilus, designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, which will eventually soar to 39 storeys, is currently on its 18th storey.

South of South Beach will be three projects. The closest, where the green lawn is below, is 42 Park Lawn Road, for which we have scant information so far. Next is the Times Group's slim 36-storey single-tower project at 36 Park Lawn where the yellow office and warehouse is. While it has not launched yet, we do have an early rendering from Burka Architects for it in our thread for the project. South of that is the huge three-tower project recently launched by the Onni Group named Westlake Village. Westlake, designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects, will feature towers of 38, 43, and 48 storeys above seven-storey retail and residential podiums, and will replace the two mirrored office buildings and surrounding parking lot.

Across the Mimico Creek from the Westlake site is Beyond the Sea, the three tower project by Empire Communities. While the 26-storey north tower has topped off, the 37-storey south tower is close to its ultimate height now too. Star Tower, the 44-storey final phase of the E.I. Richmond Architects-designed project, is now 3 storeys out of the ground.

North up the Mimico Creek, but still south of the Gardiner Expressway, is Camrost-Felcorp's multi-phase project at Mystic Pointe. Currently two phases designed by the Atkins Group are under construction there; iLoft, topped-off and completing soon, and California, now at ground level.

iLoft features many two-level suites with views of the city. The diagonals seen through the windows are staircases.

Finally, a view to the western horizon beyond Menkes' and Great Gulf Homes' first two One Sherway towers puts the 56 and 50-storey Absolute World towers in view. The unique silhouettes of the Mississauga City Centre area project by Cityzen and Fernbrook Homes is another reminder of how central these MAD Architects-designed buildings will become to the GTA's broader skyline.

i think the Mississauga skyline will look better than the TO skyline when it's all said and done. Wow, some great shots there.
