So was that section of the underground parking in the last photo sealed off? It looks pristine.

I remember the 'pit' that was left for years in the 90s when they added Cityside (eventually)...neat to see it dug up again.
There was a ramp out bound only for delivery.

There is a few items left over from the original plan expansion that got bury after OMER bought the mall and change the expansion.

The current underground parking was to have been retail.

The first crane should be going up this week as the base is pour, along with a number of west columns footings. The crane will be at the west edge and no idea where the 2nd crane is to go at this time as they have yet to excavate the area. The base of the 2nd crane been on site for a few weeks.

They have most of the steel up for the Simon addition and should be done next week for it.

Stone work going up for Moxie's with a lot more brickwork to the west. Most of the glazing is up for the new entrance.

A lot of empty stores with a few moving to other locations.

I really feel that Square One is in a transition period right now. Looking forward to the next couple of years to see what it brings.

I'm very curious what's going to be happening on the former Sears' lower level.

June 10
I notice a number of police cars by the bus terminal as I started to take some shot only to see 4 police offices and 2 Mall security escorting 3 men out of Target in handcuffs and put into 3 of the cars.

The steel frame that was sitting up by Rathburn is now the roof of the walkway in front of the north extension. Not sure when they walked that frame from Rathburn to the site, but would have to be done either after the mall close or open so there was next to no traffic to interfere with the move.

Most of the brick work is completed with the top waiting to be stucco. Stone work still taking place for Moxie's entrance.

The steel work on top of the old Sears is at a stand still for some reason and hasn't move much since I last saw it.

They have finish off the emergency exit beside Target and not sure if they will relocate the hording to the east so they can open up the sidewalk from the new exit. Doing so would allow people to exit the mall to the bus terminal if Target is close in place of a looong walk to get to it like today when Target closes their doors.

The south side has finally pickup speed with a fair number of excavators on site to dig out the lower level for parking.

Still installing the steel emergency exit walkway and almost up to Old Navy entrance.

They change the base of the tower crane from what was there the last time to one that matches the crane now. Columns are being pour for the upper mall/deck/grade parking lot above the new lower level.

By September, we should see the the first section of mall/deck/grade parking slab in place so steel framing for the expansion so it can start.

Noticed on Sunday well shooting the site, the crane for placing steel on the old Sears building has been move to the north lot with missing bays of steel for the roof on both sides of the building. Could be to dismantle it and used a smaller crane to finish off the steel erection.

The Simons signs has been removed as well. Does this mean another change is going to take place or has Simon decided not to go ahead with this store now?

From the Globe Property Report:

But in the longer term, Square One has greater mixed-use potential than Yorkdale because of the wide expanse of Oxford’s undeveloped property holdings on 41 acres north of the centre.

A preliminary rendering for the master plan suggests the possibility of 10 new office towers with eight million square feet of space, 15 condo towers and townhouses with combined total of 5,000 residential units as well as a hotel and 500,000 square feet of institutional space.

Very interesting.

I've always felt Square One (and by default, Oxford et al) has an obligation to create a "downtown" since Mississauga doesn't actually have one. There needs to be more office space and even hotel space before it will be taken seriously. They also have the interesting opportunity to create a new type of downtown - more connected than ever before - perhaps "path" like connections between these buildings - reduce the need for that sea of parking - who knows but it could be very cool if they think outside the box a bit.

July 21
Lots of photos of Phase 101 that I am calling for the expansion on the south side.

Tower 2 is to go up any day, but at which location? There are 2 footing in place for the cranes with one in the middle and one next to Hudson's at the north end. Parts of the crane is on site and guessing it will go by Hudson's, but this will tell more on the location.

Part of the ground slab at the west north end has been pour with the whole west side done by September. There will be 2 levels of underground parking as well surface in most areas.

North side will follow in the next day or so as I do the photos before it to keep things in oder of shooting. The maps in the mall show all the locations of all the stores going into the north side now. Old Navy is down sizing their new location.
