Interesting. It has slipped yet another quarter. Demolition was supposed to be in Q2. Any bets on whether it happens this year?

I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to tear it down - but I also wouldn't be surprised by the time it is said and done the staff report will come back and say that they've blown the budget and can't afford the proposal.

Flyer in the post - 2 x 5 storey buildings to house Floor 1 Market hall for farmers market/commercial space, Floor 2 demo kitchen, court services, seniors resource centre, floors 3-5 court services, below grade - 250 parking spaces over 4 levels. Very glossy presentation. I am so curious about the archeological work. It is nice to be kept in the loop about developments that impact our daily lives.

Just to be clear, that's the same building that we have all been anticipating for several years now, renderings available in the dataBase file linked above!

That's quite some leeway they've built into the schedule!
But really not unreasonable as they have no idea what they may find or how far it will stretch outside walls of current (to be demolished) Market. There are very strict Provincial rules about heritage archaeology and if they find things of real value it can take longer. See: http://www.heritagetrust.on.ca/Corp...haeology---Frequently-asked-questions-ENG.pdf They are now at Stage 3 and if they need to move to Stage 4 it will take longer.
