I was honestly shocked that the main access to the upstairs is only an elevator, not a beautiful staircase like this building deserves. its only five stories for goodness sake!

Now, this Toronto is gorgeous. Beautiful historic building with midern architecture.
Unfortunately very few parts of Toronto are like this.
 
I disagree. The ugly duckling parts actually wouldn't take much to clean up. We have tons of hidden gems that aren't shown off in their best light, necessarily. Getting public interest in showing off the City better is improving every year.
 
So, documents from a 1960s-70s developer named Stern were found. Now in the hands of Heritage Toronto I believe. It will be fun to see what story the docs paint of development during that era in Toronto.
