That was great. Thanks for taking those. I'm looking forward to all the hoarding coming down so we can fully enjoy the contribution this building makes to this developing area.
 
Two cranes down in 2 days - maybe the folks at the L-Tower need some help! The most recent posting about L-Tower on their site reads:

Tower Crane:
The exterior tower crane will remain up through the balance of January and February. In March the new derrick will be lifted to the top of the L Tower to enable the installation of the permanent maintenance platform for the building. The tower crane would then be dismantled. We will have updates on the timing of this as they become available.
 
As noted above, the north crane was taken down today (Saturday March 19, 2016). I managed to take quite a few shots of the process, which began around 8 am. This is set 1 of 4.

And at the top, the hoist crane tower is ready to begin the take down of the north tower's horizontal jib.


A worker edges his way out to the far end of the jib to prep for the dismantle.


First the counterweight slabs are lifted out of the counter jib.


Then the outer section of the horizontal jib gets attached to the hoist.


And lowered down to the street




Back at the top, the crane workers prep for removal of the next section of the horizontal jib.

The swivelling slewing ring and operator's cab are detached.














The top climbing unit is lifted away.


I have to hand it to the daredevil crew that dismantled the crane today. They are absolutely fearless, and real pros at what they do.

The roof looks a little naked without its two cranes. I imagine the unglazed area on the east side of the penthouse is where the Globe & Mail sign will go. Begs the question how are they going to lift it place without a crane?
