I hope for underground “PATH” like connection between Mars and Queens Park station. I believe the area from Dundas to college will be housing a lot more technology and biotech companies in the future as this area and Toronto continue attracting world class talent in academics and research. So it’s the perfect time to start creating a mini satellite PATH here like at Yonge and Bloor that can be expanded to and connected through the hospital district, new tech district and down to City Hall.

I would be surprised if they don’t want some kind of underground access. At a minimum I think they wanted to redo that fugly NE TTC exit - from @ProjectEnd repost:

You can see that they have redone that existing barrel-roofed exit.

There is already a direct link between MARS and QP station - I agree that it would be good to link this new U of T building to MARS, via QP Station and improve the existing TTC entrance at north-east corner of College/University.

And that underground space (underneath MaRS) also extends eastward almost (or perhaps right to) Elizabeth, which presumably makes for an easier connection here.

This is an exciting project! I spent a summer working as a lab rat in the Best institute splicing DNA and growing fruit flies. All fun stuff, great memories of those research buildings.

Of course, U of T may not want a direct connection to subway - they decided against linking the Leslie Dan Pharmacy Building (north west corner) to it a decade ago.

True -- another option would be to connect to MaRS directly to the south (which would require no coordination with the TTC), which would provide underground access to both MaRS itself and its food court and, indirectly, an underground connection to the subway, if a bit of a meandering one.

This is fantastic, though I could see some opposition to the loss of the existing buildings.

Wow I'm impressed! Some sections of the building has that sixties punctured window look. Which is a good thing because we were going to be losing some other buildings that I have that look.
By the way aren't these buildings zoned historical? If so why don't they build that on top of the old buildings it might look pretty innovative.
