I love Roywoods especially the union station location that doesn’t mean that it’s not more expensive than Harvey’s.
There’s no coded racism here. I simply miss the less expensive union station and prefer it to what I see here.
I’ll admit when I lived downtown people used to make an uproar about the gentrification of places like Queen west or Yonge street. Arcades and comic books stores replaces for Aldines, banks, and shoppers drug marts. I argued but it’s all cleaner. It looks nicer. That’s great. Union station is now cleaner and nicer but it’s also a lot more generic and on top of that more expensive.
To think about it I what frustrates me is not union. Actually union probably should be cleaner. But does the entire city need to be gentrified.
