There’s a big gap in the hoarding at the end of the wine club where you can peek in the hallway, it’s going to connect the east wing to that new bridge.
No direct connection to the Bay concourse (which is also a problem with the Skywalk lack of a direct connection to the York concourse).
 
I realised recently that a map has never been made of the entire Union Station complex before, from the skywalk entrance in the west to the bus terminal in the east, Union plaza in the south to the PATH entrance north of Front Street.

Since I have basically all of the blueprints for Union from my revitalisation project concept art folder, I decided to try and map out the entire station, here is the WIP of the first level, which will include the head house, and the 4 concourses, the 4 teamways, the arena, streets & plazas, and the south PATH:

The only blueprints I don’t have are of the York West Teamway and Bay East Teamway (CIBC), does anyone know where I could find those?
 
I’m finding it a bit strange that a set of double doors is being maintained between Union Station and the Scotiabank arena, especially since one side has more doors than the other. Wouldn’t a setup like this just lead to more problems with people needing to funnel into a smaller doorway while in this confined space?

What would be really great would be automatic sliding doors, which I imagine would keep crowds moving the most efficiently.

I suppose that the funnelling effect depends on the direction of travel? I'd guess that the arena fills up gradually, and then empties out in a big burst. It might not be that crowded before a game or event as people enter. The bottleneck might be more of a problem as people leave, but in that case, the crowds would form on the arena side of the doors, and then the extra doors into the station would allow that crowd to spread out more.

It also might be that those doors closest to the arena are owned by MLSE, in which case it would be up to MLSE as the arena owner's to decide if they want to add more doors. That wouldn't be part of the station work then, but MLSE might do the work later on. I'm not sure. I'm just spitballing here.

I have to imagine that this passage will be expanded as part of the Scotiabank Arena Reimagination project (as they're branding it), which is meant to be completed sometime next year..
Gate 1, adjacent to the blue route, is being largely renovated. I tried to look for photos, found some of the paid area beyond the gate but nothing outside. I'll have a look next time I'm nearby.

I thought the renovations to gate 1 and the surrounding area already ended? They reopened the gate a few months ago, I assumed they moved on to other parts of the arena already.

Is it even necessarily in MLSE's interest to empty out the arena especially quickly? This is not my area of expertise, but maybe someone who lingers a little is more likely to buy a jersey, or buy something to eat on the way out.

I haven't been to this arena recently, but at most venues the food/drink stands are already closed by the time the event ends, and they're generally eager for the crowd to clear out asap to clean up and close it down, so the staff can go home.

There's also Union Station capacity bottlenecks elsewhere if the arena gets emptied too fast?

I was at the leaf game on Wednesday.

When the game let out it was a mess going from the arena to the station. Once you got into the station it was a bit roomier heading to and from the subway but it was still a bit full.
