I recently got my hands on an episode of The Collaborators. This was a CBC Police Type Drama program which aired in 1973/74. Many outdoor scenes. It is neat to see how much Toronto has changed, and how much I don't recognize.

This first clip is of Buzz Buzz Pizza. I am fairly certain this is now the Pizza Pizza on Yonge St, just north on Bloor on the West side.

The second clip is from a shopping mall. I need help IDing which shopping mall this is. I have two clips available, I posted the longer one. I am thinking this could be The Scarborough Town Center. The clip starts with everyone exiting a CIBC.

The third clip sees a couple guys running behind (what I suspect) is the Manulife Center parking garage. It then disolves to some other police driving down what they alledge is Bloor. They clearly drive by a Woolworth's. I don't remember a Woolworth's along bloor, but the building that comes after the Woolworth's looks extremely familiar.

If anyone can offer any help with clips two or three (or if you want me to post more of the Shopping Mall) let me know!

As for the 3rd clip, it looks like the Woolworth's was where the Holt Renfrew Centre now stands (around where the HMV location currently is). As they drive further east, I believe you are seeing 2 Bloor W & the HBC Centre under construction (although I'm not 100% on this).

The mall could be STC, but the clip would be from back when it was still a Y-shape and multiple renos ago, long before I was even born, so I can't tell. A longer clip of the mall would help...it might show the balloons or the Miracle Mart.

The 2nd one does look like STC. And is that William Shatner in it? :D

I'll try and post the second shopping mall clip tonight. My speculation on it being STC had nothing to do with the stores, but totally with the benches.

Thanks for the Woolworth's info - that would seem logically right with respect to their location in the show.

Indeed that is William Shanter being the bad guy.

It's definitely the Yonge & Bloor Pizza Pizza - you can see Britnells bookshop across the street when the turn the corner.

Never mind Woolworths - note the pleasing (if dirty) beaux-arts style building where the HBC tower is now.

In 1989 Bramalea Ltd planned a garish PoMo facelift to that HBC. Most of the Bloor Street facade would have been enclosed in glass, with a long glass canopy at street level, and a couple of domed glass towers where the shopping concourse meets Yonge.

Ah, Bramalea. So many po-mo plans before they went TU. Still, I don't mind their headquarters at Queen and Yonge.

The one at the southeast corner of Queen and Yonge.

Here is the initial clip of the bad guy, William Shatner, entering the bank. The benches and the ceiling make me think more and more it might be The Scarborugh Town Centre, but I am quite open to be corrected.

It's probably STC, but I can't confirm it since I wasn't alive when it looked like that. The layout does look familiar, though.

Now, all we need are youtubes of old Shatner "More Than The Price Is Right" Loblaws commercials...

Find the Golden Dolphin in a 1974 telephone directory and you've found the mall.
