This is what it looks like when it isn't there anymore...

This is actually pretty hilarious. So now 'saving a heritage building' means removing the outer brick layer, tearing down the entire building and using the outer bricks on an entirely new building built to mimic the old building? So one layer of bricks are the same? Gimme a break. That's ridiculous. Honestly why bother at that point. It's like building taxidermy.

The exterior walls were starting to buckle, and had been strapped together in a number of places to keep parts from falling off. What are yah gonna do?

It was either that or let it collapse. They were going to have to completely rebuild it structurally anyway.

Wow. This intersection looks hugely different. Interesting.

It does look bizarre down there right now; not quite a foreign site/sight, but it's somewhere you've never been or seen before. It won't look right again until the building is back up.

Yes. That's an electromagnet moving twisted metal around. Extremely cool.

The Loblaws store at the Gardens is absolutely fantastic- a home run - I hope they produce something along the same lines here.

I bet this store will be even more spectacular. This will be the showcase store will it not? Idon't live in this area but I see a lack of grocery stores etc. especially with the growing population .

It will be a showcase store for sure - by the time it opens, they will probably be rolling out a new concept. I don't know if it will ever replace MLG as "the" flagship store, because MLG has the added benefit of being a tourist attraction, easily accessible from other downtown attractions.
