the two projects are similar in some ways but not the same

Ellipse is more similar to Meridian (Yonge/Finch) being ellipitically shaped on one half and rectangular on the other half ... and Ellipse's twin towers are sited in a straight line

whereas in the WoY design, the twin towers are elliptical all around with the rounded ends 'chopped off', and the two towers are arranged in a 'V' configuration which provided added dimension to the towers.

Right, but does any of this make it good?

IMO, this part does

it adds depth and interest to the Yonge streetscape ~

Personally, I like the office tower/hotel portion of it better than the condos. The condos look like they're from the 90's. The only thing I like about it is the two tone glass for the balconies a la Maple Leaf Square.

It's about time that Thornhill finally joined the 90s - that's a good decade jump over anything else that's been built up there.

Things are definitely happening on this project ~ :)

To recap:
  • Bldgs A1+A2 are the 2 elliptical residential towers fronting Yonge Street
  • Bldgs B1+B2 are the two square residential towers fronting onto Meadowview Avenue
  • Bldg C is the mixed hotel/office building at the northwest corner of the site abutting the railway tracks + Yonge Street

Refer to page 5 of the Town of Markham Planning Staff Report for the concept plan ~

Thornhill joins the development boom. This project will add some nice density to Yonge St. Hopefully it will start a trend to replace those awful strip malls and the car dealerships along Yonge.

Downside is this project will add up to the crazy traffic that exists on this stretch of Yonge St. That subway better get built soon!

I doubt it'll ever happen, but I'd love to see Doris (the eastern service road) get extended, via Deering, Silverview, Tobruk, and Dumont, all the way up to Dudley, which would then cross the rail corridor and end at John. It's shame that the city of Toronto still has no clue what it's doing with the lands along Yonge between Drewry/Cummer and Steeles - a vision for Yonge north of Steeles is emerging and projects like World on Yonge are clarifying it.

I contact one of the VIP broker for VIP preivew. He told me the preview will be open at late Sept.
If invest World on Yonge residential condo, will it be good investment? Will future Yonge subway north extension impact its price a lot?

Seems like this lazy real estate agent (Ken Yeung) has been just ripping off images that our UT members have been posting in this forum for his own website promoting this project ... you would think this guy could at least source or scan his own images?? geez

Thoughts on how the train tracks next door will impact the condo? What's the noise level going to be like while you're sleeping?

I know the homes around there can hear it pretty well.

I imagine that the condo's noise levels will be within Ministry of Environment standards (<55?) and there will certainly be 'noise warning clauses' in all Purchase and Sale Agreements
